Marriage Enrichment and Preservation Component Goals

Open access to effective marriage and relationship skills education to all couples interested in making their relationship stronger and lasting.

Strengthen the bond of marriage and instill a positive image of hope among African Americans regarding the benefits of marriage.

Increase awareness of the ingredients of a healthy marriage and encourage couples to incorporate these ingredients into their marriage.

Marriage Enrichment and Preservation Workshops

A series of marriage and relationship skills courses offered throughout the year at select community sites. Participants will receive vital skill-based training in areas such as: The Benefits of Marriage, Conflict Resolution, Financial Management, Effective Communication, and Parenting.

Trainer of Trainers

Marriage and Family Counselors, Faith Based Marriage Ministry Leaders, and Community Leaders will be recruited and trained to deliver researched-based marriage enrichment curriculums and workshops proven to enhance African American marriages/relationships.

Marriage and Relationship Counseling

Referrals will be provided for those couples experiencing high levels of stress and/or contemplating divorce.

Marriage Mentors

Couples will be recruited from program participants and community sites. Marriage Mentors will be available for engaged couples as well as couples experiencing high levels of stress and/or contemplating divorce.

The Marriage and Family Conference
An annual community conference promoting the benefits of healthy marriages and relationships in the African American Community.
